Nothing says summer's here like a broken arm with a cast!

Brody sure does love the lake and boat rides...but our boat ride didn't end as planned this past weekend. We were getting off the boat after a long day. Brody got to help Papa Dennis drive the boat home. He was sleepy and he missed the step off the driver's seat and fell down one step on carpet. It was an innocent fall and he didn't even cry much. He went to bed as usual that night but woke up the next morning refusing to use his right hand for anything and held it all day as if it were definitely broken. Off to the pediatrician we went, he referred us for an xray and then promptly called and said it was broken. He had a buckle in his right radius bone. Not quite a big break which they call a "greenstick" but a break nonetheless that would require a cast. Off the orthopedic doctor we go for a cast. All the while, Brody did not complain at all, he just went about his business happy to use his left arm for everything. He didn't cry for the xray or the cast...he was a real trooper. The nurse gave him a big board with every cast color and pattern you could imagine, he of course picked blue right off the bat to match his shorts and shirt, but then after reevaluation, he chose the dinosaur pattern. He sat very still like he was told through the entire process and his only remark was, "How am I supposed to dwive with this thing?" The nurse replied, "I didn't know you drove already?" He said, "yeah...my bike!" Like duh? He's done awesome with this process so far, you wouldn't even know he had a broken arm if it weren't for the cast. I'm sure he's determined to milk this for all the presents and ice cream he can though. I wonder how long it will take for him to realize that his cast is pretty heavy and it could be a pretty decent weapon against his sisters! We never thought our most cautious child by nature would be the 1st one with a broken bone! One things for sure...nothing slows him down!
