Daddy reminded me tonight that I need to blog about all the little things you guys do during your daily routines that are hilarious. Every night after brushing his teeth, Brody gets right in your face and almost whispers the phrase, "stick it ON the sink?" What he means by this is that his toothbrush has a suction cup on the bottom so it stands up, not too long ago he decided that he'd flush that toothbrush down the toilet. He was really proud of himself for doing this, we thought it was less humorous. So now we remind him to put his toothbrush on or in the sink, not down the toilet. So he asks every night, as if he needs continual clarification, "on the sink?" It's not so much the words he says, but the way he does it. He has to get all the way in your face and he almost whispers and then when you say yes, he says, "okay" in this totally cute voice and hops off to do it. I wonder what would happen if we didn't remind him of what needs to happen with his toothbrush when he's done using it???
We've had a little run in with profanity this week also. Yesterday while I was making his breakfast, Brody said, "Mom....do we say dammit?" To which I replied, "No, we do not use that word, it's not nice." His reply was "okay" and he went about this morning. He just wanted to clarify once again.
We try to say prayers with you guys every night and it's always pretty funny what you choose to be thankful for...Thomas Trains, Darla, cribs, blankets, shirts...you just never know what might come up. So we've tried to include Haiti, people in the world w/o food, clothes, warm houses etc, people that we know who are sick....so every night when I say, "please pray for those who are sick," Brody replies with "Barb is sad" and then he puts his head down as if he's sad. It's really quite sweet. And I guess this comes from the one time when I mentioned that my friend Barb's husband was in Iraq for the holidays and she was sad, and also another friend at work's sister Barb has brain cancer. So now anytime I say pray for the sick, he replies with, "Barb's sad." So tonight when I said pray for all of those who are sick, he replied with, "Barb is sad b/c she doesn't have shoes, or clothes, or a bed, or blankets, or Thomas Trains, or a pony!????" We have no idea where the last one came from but he must be confusing Barb with the people we pray for that are less fortunate...and the pony part, well we have no idea where that came from b/c not only does he not have a pony, but we don't know anyone who does! It was really cute and sweet though...he is very thoughtful!
Finley is not w/o funny conversation for sure...it's just hard to type what it is that's funny about her b/c so much is! Every expression and thing she does is so matter of fact and funny. She makes stuff up all day long and then tries to sell it to you as real and it's pretty believable. She loves combing everyone's hair all the time and when you move or if you don't cooperate, she'll tell you about it. "Mom, don't move! It's not pretty yet!" And then she takes her hands and puts them on your face and bosses you around! Every night she tries to keep Brody from falling asleep b/c she's jumping around in her bed playing. He's tired and is trying to sleep and I can hear her in there going, "Brode....are you sleeping? Don't fall asleep yet, we have to jump and play!" And she just keeps on saying it to keep him up! She constantly mocks us no matter we're doing. She's just like a little mini me mommy!
